SiteVividFrequently Asked Questions
Hosting
- What is a Virtual Private Server (VPS)
A Virtual Private Server (VPS) is a hosting environment that provides your website with its own dedicated resources within a larger server, acting like a private slice of a powerful computer. Unlike shared hosting, where resources are divided among many websites, a VPS offers better performance, enhanced security, and greater control, making it ideal for growing businesses or websites with higher traffic and complex needs.
- What are SiteVivid's Cutting-Edge Virtual Servers?
SiteVivid’s Cutting-Edge Virtual Private Servers use NVMe Solid State Drives and 3GHz+ Intel Xeon processors.
Why Are They Better?
NVMe Drives: An NVMe (Non-Volatile Memory Express) solid-state drive is a super-fast storage device that uses cutting-edge technology to access data much quicker than traditional drives. For hosting, this means faster website loading times, better performance during high traffic, and an overall smoother user experience.
Intel Xeon Processors: A 3GHz+ Intel Xeon processor is a high-performance computer chip designed for handling demanding tasks quickly and efficiently. For website hosting, it ensures faster processing speeds, better handling of multiple users at once, and more reliable performance.
- What is SiteVivid's "Live Comparison"?
We’ll set up a secure, password-protected “private testing room” for you on our network. This dedicated space, with its own unique web address, lets you evaluate our hosting performance without affecting your live site. Your current website remains fully functional with your existing host, so you can test with complete peace of mind.
Once your testing room is ready, we’ll create an exact copy of your current website and transfer it into the testing environment. With your test site in place, you’ll have two business days to put it through its paces. Most clients notice an immediate improvement, but if you’re not impressed, no problem—your live site stays untouched, and you’ve risked nothing.
Call 800-876-5950 To Schedule Your Live Comparison Today!
Some limitations may apply. Scheduling is required and there are limited monthly spaces. We will need temporary access to your current website via sFTP and your WordPress dashboard.
- What does "Site Speed" refer to?
Hosting businesses often refer to “site speed,” but what they’re actually talking about is the speed of individual web pages. This refers to how quickly a page loads and responds when someone visits it, including how fast images, text, and other content appears on your computer screen, as well as how smoothly users can navigate between pages.
- Does the speed of my website matter?
Yes, the speed of your website matters.
Website speed matters because a fast-loading site keeps visitors engaged and less likely to leave. Slow websites frustrate users, leading to higher bounce rates and fewer conversions. Plus, search engines like Google prioritize faster sites, meaning better speed can help your website rank higher and attract more traffic.
Here are a few studies from reputable sources on the benefits of website speed:
- Does the location of my website matter?
Yes. The location of your website hosting server significantly impacts its performance and user experience. A server closer to your audience reduces data travel time (latency), resulting in faster page load times and a better overall browsing experience. This is especially crucial for sites with video and images as they will load more quickly and without interruptions.
Additionally, faster load speeds improve your search engine rankings, as search engines favor speedy websites with lower bounce rates and longer user engagement. Choosing a server near your target audience ensures your site performs at its best and keeps visitors happy.

- What is a CDN and why is it good?

This makes your website load faster, improves reliability, and provides a smoother experience for users no matter where they are.

- How much time is needed every month for content edits?
While there are limited statistics on how much time small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) spend updating website content each month, it’s generally recommended to review and update basic content at least monthly to keep information current and relevant.
The time required varies based on the amount and complexity of website tasks you have. Factors like the types of content updates (adding blogs or rewriting CSS code), promotions, eCommerce activity, or SEO efforts will require different amounts of time.
In our experience, most SMBs typically need no more than 3 hours per month for common, day-to-day content edit tasks. In fact, unless your are engaging in specialized activities like regular SEO updates, highly active events calendars, or daily blogging, far less than that is usually needed.
